After we checked out of the Broadmoor, we took the Cog Railway up to the top of Pike’s Peak. At the top of Pikes Peak: 14,110 feet! The girls were cold as we’d forgotten to pack our hoodies.

Broadmoor
Greg’s company, Wayin, gave all the employees $500 cash and told them to go do something fun with their families. So we decided to stay a night at the fancy Broadmoor Hotel in Colorado Springs. Something we wouldn’t splurge on normally. It was fun to stay there, but we sure felt out of our element. […]
Las Vegas
Greg and I aren’t fond of making decisions or having to plan things, so when our vacation plans to Phoenix (to visit family) fell through on the evening before we were to leave, we weren’t sure what to do. I was stressed about having to make new plans. So we came up with the idea […]
Carmel-by-the-Sea
Our road trip brought us to the Pacific Ocean, where the girls enjoyed playing in the sand and watching the mesmerizing waves. It was a bit chilly, but our time on the beach was still a highlight of our trip. This was Cate’s first time seeing the Pacific Ocean. She would giggle with glee as […]
Yosemite
We spent an afternoon in Yosemite National Park. Parking was awful, but once we found a spot, we enjoyed a leisurely hike along a river, taking in the sights. El Capitan was truly magnificent!
Black Rock Lava Flow
Out in the middle of a three-hour long drive in the middle of nowhere on US Highway 6 between Ely and Tonopah, Nevada, we stumbled across the Black Rock Lava Flow, a part of the Lunar Crater Volcano Field. It was so interesting to see the flow and where it ended. We would have stayed […]
Moab
We stayed the night with Greg’s former coworker from his Sun Microsystems days, Andrew, and his family at their home in Moab, Utah. The first day we were there, they took us to Dead Horse Canyon. (We didn’t tell Bree what the name of the place was.) While we were there, we heard a rumbling […]
Oregon Trail Ruts
Visiting the Oregon Trail Ruts near Guernsey, WY.
Great Sand Dunes
Our visit to Arrakis, er…I mean, the Great Sand Dunes in southern Colorado. I am currently reading “Dune” so it was hard not to picture it in my mind. hehe. Thankfully, there was no need for stillsuits! The idea of those gross me out. Tatooine came up in conversation while we were there, too. We […]
Family Reunion
First, we got to have Godfather’s Pizza! A must anytime we are traveling through the Omaha area! 🙂 Karen rode with me since Greg couldn’t come, which was really nice. She was a big help with the little girls. On the way home, we even got to visit a lookout tower, with Grandpa, at a […]
