Greg and I got our first COVID-19 vaccine shots today! We did a drive-through event and got the Pfizer one. It is so weird how happy we were to finally get this much-anticipated shot. I couldn’t help but feel some relief and hope. Like there’s finally a light at the end of this very-long isolated tunnel that we’ve been on this last year. We each had a sore arm the next day, but that was about it.
Even though the girls still can’t receive a vaccine yet, knowing that both Greg and I are working on it (we both have conditions that put us at higher risk) is nice. Perhaps we can dart into a grocery store and get one of the items that we cannot (for some weird reason) order for curbside pickup? Perhaps we can visit friends and family for long-awaited social time? Perhaps I can start teaching ESL in person again? Even with these hopeful events on the horizon, we still plan on taking precautions when it comes to the girls’ health though.
Adrianna is excited to turn 16 next month so that she can also get the vaccine. She really wants to be able to return to in-person school in the fall, and this might just get us there. Yay!
