Thanksgiving 2009

Our Thanksgiving was spent with my family at our house. As usual, we combined our Thanksgiving celebration with our Secret Santa gift exchange since we won’t all be together over Christmas.

Family started arriving on Friday evening. Adrianna was thrilled to see Layla and Aidan again. Layla and Adrianna didn’t waste any time getting into their princess/minnie outfits.

The kids stayed up late playing and then all crashed in Adrianna’s room; Layla and Adrianna in the bed and Aidan in the tent.

We had the actual meal on Saturday. The entire family was able to attend, which was awesome. And, as usual, there was lots of yummy food again this year.

  • Turkey (made by me and Greg)
  • Rolls (made by Greg)
  • Stuffing (made by Mom and Karen)
  • Mashed Potatoes (made by Ebony and Cindy)
  • Green Bean Casserole (made by Karen)
  • Gravy (made by Dad)
  • Sweet Potatoes (made by Dad)
  • Corn (made by Mom)
  • Low-carb pies (made by Cindy and Kendall)
  • Carrot Cake (brought by Mom)

After dinner, we all opened presents. I feel so spoiled by all the wonderful gifts we received. From my secret santa (Kendall), I received two books (A Lineage of Grace by Francine Rivers and Once-A-Month Cooking by Mary Beth Lagerborg) and 3 pairs of very cute socks. Greg received Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire DVD and a science t-shirt from his secret santa (Dad). And Adrianna received a ton of wonderful gifts: The Velveteen Rabbit book (along with a stuffed Velveteen Rabbit) and floppy puppy dog ears from Karen and Zach, UP DVD from Cindy and Kendall, a cute sweater and jeans from Brian and Ebony, a Christmas book, a coloring book and The Tinkerbell Movie DVD from Mom and Dad. Additionally, we received some gifts for “baby Rainbow”: a gift basket of diapers, bath toys, miscellaneous baby items and an outfit from Cindy and Kendall and a beautiful homemade quilt from Karen. Whew, that is quite a list! 🙂

We should have taken a picture of all the dogs present too. There were our two dachshunds, my parents’ two chihuahuas, Cindy’s border-collie mix, and we were babysitting a friend’s corgi. I am glad they all got along pretty well.

I am so thankful for my family. Things are always loud and chaotic when we are together, but also very fun.

Adrianna and Layla look so much alike in the picture where they’re sleeping. So cute!
