When Cousins are Two of a Kind

Did anyone else watch The Patty Duke Show when they were young? Nick at Night used to be so awesome.

Marilyn’s comment on my last post (about how Adrianna and Layla looked so much alike in the picture where they were sleeping) reminded me of something else that happened over Thanksgiving.

Both Adrianna and Layla have similar colored blond hair with natural, enviable highlights. They are only a little over a year apart in age. Now that Adrianna’s hair is cut shorter, they can easily be mistaken for the other from behind. Especially when Layla is wearing one of the outfits that Adrianna so often wears.

Layla was wearing the Minnie outfit and getting a drink out of the refrigerator, leaving the door open for a long period of time as kids tend to do. Greg glanced over and assumed it was Adrianna. He started to gently scold her, only to realize when she turned around that it wasn’t Adrianna but Layla. Whoops!

Layla and Adrianna get along so well. The only sad thing is sometimes they tend to leave Aidan out of their playing, as so often happens when you have three children playing together. Three is a crowd. I am so thankful Adrianna gets to play with her cousins often. I just wish they lived closer so they could be together even more often. They are a joy to watch.

And speaking of two people looking alike, I have a stack of old photos of me when I was young on the coffee table, waiting to be scanned in to my computer. Adrianna thought they were pictures of her. There are definitely some similarities, specifically in our hair cuts, blue eyes, and face shape.
