I love this picture Adrianna drew of Harry Potter – she even worked hard on the title so that it looks like the font used on the books. We just finished Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince last night. Only one more book to go! BTW – I cannot recommend the audiobooks read by Jim […]

Harry Potter
Introduced Adrianna to the awesomeness that is the Harry Potter series today via audiobook on an impromptu road trip to Wyoming. She loves it and has proclaimed it her favorite book ever. I love reading it together and as soon as we are done with the first book we’ll watch the movie together too. So […]
Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH
Reading “Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH” to Adrianna as our current bedtime story. I love it that we are to the stage where we can read a book together that we BOTH enjoy. 🙂 And bonus, she often wants to read an additional chapter every night and offers to play with my hair while […]
Home For a Bunny
Karen, Cindy, and Janis – look what I scored at a used book store today! Can’t wait to read it to my girls. 🙂 A home for a bunny, a home of his own, under a rock or a log or a stone. Where would a bunny find a home? Bree has fallen in love with this book already. […]
Journey to the Center of the Earth
I am a sucker for “Journey to the Center of the Earth” movies. Even though they typically are quite different from the Jules Verne novel and aren’t realistic, I can’t help but watch and be intrigued by the concept anyway. Must be my dad’s fault, as I remember watching a version of the movie several […]
Unputdownable
Quote from Adrianna regarding one of her school reading books: “I love that book! I can’t put it down. It is unputdownable!” The book is Journey to a New Land – a Sonlight reader. I am glad she is learning to enjoy reading. I think that is a big part of her enjoying the book […]
Hunger Games
Finally got to see The Hunger Games today. It was worth the wait and they did a great job capturing the story from the book. Can’t wait to see it (and read the book) again.
Dolphin Adventure Book
We read Dolphin Adventure as a part of my daughter’s Kindergarten reading material. We were only planning on reading a couple of chapters tonight, but she loved it so much that she kept begging for more. We read the whole thing in one sitting and we both enjoyed it. Great story.
Demon: A Memoir
I LOVED this book, Demon: A Memoir. The premise was intriguing. I do believe Tosca Lee is my new favorite author. Just to be clear, even though a demon is a main character, this did NOT remind me of a Frank Peretti type book in any way. 🙂 Her book “Havah: The Story of Eve” is […]
Twenty and Ten
Adrianna and I just finished Twenty and Ten as a part of our Sonlight / homeschool Kindergarten reading. It prompted some great discussion. Now I need to get the movie loosely based on the book from Netflix (Miracle at Moreaux) so we can watch it together. Now we are reading Mary on Horseback.
