First Day of [Home]School. (Well, technically we’ve been doing some schoolwork for the last couple of weeks, but this was the first official day of their homeschool electives school.) Adrianna (8th Grade) Bree (3rd Grade)Cate (Kindergarten) Cate has been waiting for this day for MONTHS. She was ready to march off to school the day […]

Inventing Room
Today’s field trip to the Inventing Room was super-cool, both in the figurative and the literal sense. Cheetos frozen in liquid nitrogen, along with ice cream and “exploding whipped cream” made with liquid nitrogen. Definitely not your typical dessert shop.
American Astronomical Society
The American Astronomical Society was in town for a convention and they invited local homeschoolers to come for an educational morning. Knowing Adrianna’s love of astronomy, I jumped at the chance! Since the event was at the Denver Sheraton hotel in downtown Denver, we decided to take the bus. The Flatiron Flyer is so convenient […]
Makerspace
My girls love our local Maker Space. This week the little girls worked on fabric squares and Adrianna and her friend, Thomas, made keychains with the laser cutter. Bree is hoping to make a plushie at the next homeschool open hours. She’s already started the pattern (a Minecraft creeper!) It will be her first experience […]
May Day
Some friends of ours put on a May Day celebration this week. They taught all of the kids some May Day dances and how to make flower crowns. And everyone did the traditional May Pole dance with the ribbons, though with so many little kids participating it looked more tangled than weaved at the end! […]
3D Pen
Our homeschooling this week has been very relaxed so far. We are doing more interest-led learning this week since we’ve already met our required days/hours for the year. (Just don’t tell the girls we’ve met our required days/hours because I *do* still plan on doing some more actual bookwork, even if at a relaxed pace, […]
Makerspace Buttons
Cate is super-proud of the buttons she made at Makerspace today.
Babylonian My Little Ponies
Apparently, My Little Ponies were present with Daniel in the lion’s den.
Rainbow Shield
I’ll bet you didn’t know that Genghis Khan had a RAINBOW-colored shield!
Aquarium Field Trip
Today was Homeschool Day at the Denver Aquarium. Since that means discounted entrance fees + fun classes, we were happy to attend! Since we also had horseback riding later in the day, Bree excitedly told me, “Today I will get to see TWO of my favorite animals – seahorses and horses!”
