Some friends of ours put on a May Day celebration this week. They taught all of the kids some May Day dances and how to make flower crowns. And everyone did the traditional May Pole dance with the ribbons, though with so many little kids participating it looked more tangled than weaved at the end!
Bree was really nervous about doing the dances at first, saying she was “too embarrassed.” (Not embarrassed to do it in front of her friends since everyone there was dancing, but worried if anyone were to drive by. She doesn’t like doing anything that might seem out of the ordinary to others.) But she did try it and ended up having so much fun that she was glad she did. In fact, she even ended up dancing even more than her sisters!
It was a great experience! I loved watching their joy as they danced and made beautiful flower crowns.
