Impossible Burger

Tried Impossible Burger (“burger” made from plants) tonight. We were all impressed! I used it in taco soup, which I figured would help blend any difference in taste due to all the spices. The girls didn’t even notice and were incredulous that the “beef” wasn’t actually beef at all. (We didn’t tell them until *after* they were done eating in order to get an unbiased opinion.)

It did brown slightly different (I had to do it at a lower temperature and keep a closer eye on it) and it had a different smell when browning, but other that, even I couldn’t taste the difference once it came time to eat.

Now Greg wants to try making hamburgers with it. We’ll see if that is as good; burgers are my favorite. But I’m glad to potentially have an alternative to cut back on our beef consumption a little while still enjoying the “meaty” recipes we like.
