Facebook Killed Blogs

After we found a fun video that we’d taken several years ago with some friends, Adrianna has expressed an interest in seeing more. So I shared the link to my old blog, which has a lot of memories recorded from before she was even born. She has spent hours reading through old posts, much to my delight, and has been laughing and oohing and aahing over the cute things she or her sisters said or did in the past.

Even before this happened this week, I’ve been feeling sad that Facebook has made so many of the blogs “obsolete” that I used to enjoy reading. Yes, little snippets are posted here on FB, but I miss the longer, newsy posts. Over the past few months, I’ve been slowly copying/pasting those little snippets on Facebook back to my blog (at least in those instances where I didn’t already blog it) so that everything is back in one place. Easily searchable, easily readable by my daughters. Now that Adrianna is interested in reading those posts, it’s definitely helped my motivation in getting it done! And I am going to try to post more updates in general going forward, too. (Especially now that the software makes it even easier to do so, rivaling the ease of posting that Facebook has.)
