One of the art classes that the girls take at their homeschool electives program contains creative art projects. This week, Bree and Cate brought home “Fashion boards” that contained a study on the human form. The girls made a “Fashion Show” on the table, that included additional art, pencils and markers stood up on end […]

Dancing With the Birds
Knowing the girls’ love of birds, we watched Netflix’s new documentary, Dancing With the Birds. It was all about birds’ courtship rituals, from dancing to elaborate nest building. The girls loved it! And then I saw this interesting picture on our whiteboard the following day: I asked Bree what the two birds were doing, and […]
Art
Bree is taking two art classes at her homeschool electives school this year. Each class has a different teacher with a different focus: Mr. D tends to do project-based artwork and Ms. Hickman is doing painting this semester. One of Bree’s paintings was hanging up at Summit so I had to snap a picture of […]
Pixel-y Hummingbird
Bree made a “pixely” hummingbird, basically a hummingbird with blocked shapes (like something you might find in Minecraft.)
Creative Writing
Bree took a Creative Writing class at a nearby public library this Sunday (today) and last Sunday. In the first class, she worked on making a story chart to show the place, the characters, and some details about the characters. This one took place in “The Magical World” and included her made up ponies of […]
“Computers”
Bree and Cate made their own “computers” out of paper. They are quite impressive and they’ve put a lot of hard work into them. I love the 3D look of the buttons that they drew! They each have fold-out extras that “unlock” with “keys” that they made as well.
Pastels Art Camp
The girls made clown fish art using pastels at art camp today. I think Cate got as much chalk on herself as she did on the paper.
Art Camp
Climbing on the sea dragon before Art Camp. One of the girls’ instructors at Therapeutic Riding is leaving, so the girls each drew her a picture. I think they are adorable!
Go Fish
A few months back, I made a set of “Go Fish” cards to use with a friend with whom I practiced English (ESL) with. (They had specific numbers on them that she needed to practice at the time.) Bree and Cate liked my cards so much that they made their own. The drawings are of […]
Lift-a-Flap Pony
I recently found this pony that Bree drew. Upon further inspection, it is like a “Lift a Flap” book where you can lift up the flap to see inside! She still insists she doesn’t want to be a doctor though!
