Today was our homeschool electives school’s annual elementary Christmas party. They have it at the local rec center every year, much to my girls’ delight, because that means swimming! Adrianna was hoping some of her middle and high school friends who also have younger siblings would be in attendance, but sadly, they were not. But […]

Dancing With the Birds
Knowing the girls’ love of birds, we watched Netflix’s new documentary, Dancing With the Birds. It was all about birds’ courtship rituals, from dancing to elaborate nest building. The girls loved it! And then I saw this interesting picture on our whiteboard the following day: I asked Bree what the two birds were doing, and […]
Snowstorm
We got a little over a foot of snow in 24 hours. It was a good day to relax at home. (And thankfully Greg was able to work from home!)
Aquarium
We love to visit the Aquarium when they are having a homeschool day (mainly because the prices are cheaper!) We also got to see the Angler Fish right after they were fed. The volunteer put live crickets on the branch above their tank. Watch the fish swim around below and shoot streams of water at […]
Musical Glasses
Bree started tapping out one of her little tunes on some glasses after breakfast. She then started adding/removing water to change their pitches and eventually added even more to her lineup. It was pretty special, considering that her great-grandfather used to play the musical glasses.
Hi, Dad!
Greg had to fly to Seattle for a week of meetings. When we found out the approximate time his plane would fly over our house, we hung around outside so we could wave. The girls had fun shouting, “Hi, Dad!” to two possible planes that could’ve been his flight.
Sammie
The girls’ horseback riding program has a new horse. Sammie is a beautiful, stocky horse – look at those hooves! The girls took turns riding her at their last session.
Pronunciations
Bree and Cate still have some cute ways of pronouncing certain words that I just love. I know the days of hearing these are probably numbered though. Napkin – nap-can Cupholder – cup-folder Mozzarella Sticks – monster-ella sticks
Botanic Gardens
Monday was Homeschool Day at the Botanic Gardens, and since their activity was to make bird feeders out of recycled materials, I thought the girls would enjoy going. (Given their fascination with all-things birds these days.) They were all very creative with their designs. After their maker-space time, we spent some time in the indoor […]
Art
Bree is taking two art classes at her homeschool electives school this year. Each class has a different teacher with a different focus: Mr. D tends to do project-based artwork and Ms. Hickman is doing painting this semester. One of Bree’s paintings was hanging up at Summit so I had to snap a picture of […]
