One of the highlights of our field trip to Barr Lake State Park yesterday was when Adrianna got to release one of the birds after it had been banded. It sat in her hand and had to be coaxed to fly away, much to Adrianna’s delight. I love Cate’s “binoculars.” Especially since she has a […]

Wobbly
Another Bree-ism: “Daddy, today we had a fire drill. I was nervous and my stomach felt all wobbly!” I love, love, LOVE that she is getting better at recognizing her feelings AND expressing them. And she even volunteered information on several things that happened today at her homeschool co-op, which is a BIG deal. One […]
Burning Up
Bree often takes things we say literally, which can sometimes be pretty funny, but it can also cause her anxiety until we explain what the idiom or whatever we said *really* means. The most recent example: Yesterday, Cate was running a fever of 102. When I was feeling her forehead, I said aloud, “Cate, you […]
First Day of School 2016
First day of [home]school for this year. Adrianna (6th grade), Bree (1st grade), and Cate (preschool). Actually, we do a bit of schooling year-round, but their homeschool co-op started today, which I mark as the first day of our new school year. I am excited for their new classes at their co-op. Adrianna is taking […]
Track Photos
Finally got around to picking up the girls’ track photos. I am so proud of how hard they worked this summer.

Demise of Applejack
Today, Bree found out that one of her favorite My Little Ponies, Applejack, met her demise via lawnmower. (She found the evidence out in the yard.) This was followed by much wailing and many tears. Thankfully, we *do* have a couple more Applejack characters (not to mention MANY more ponies) in our house that she […]
But I’m Three
So Bree has been asking why Cate doesn’t always have to do school work or help clean up the playroom. I told her a couple of times, “Because you are six and Cate is three.” Well, Cate quickly picked up on it and when I asked Cate today to help us clean up the playroom, […]
Kitty
This week at Music Camp, Bree told me that she was playing with some other girls on their break. “We played princesses and fairies, and I was their kitty!” It just reminded me of her Aunt Karen and how we used to do imaginative play growing up and she always wanted to be a dog […]
Music Camp 2016
