Bree often takes things we say literally, which can sometimes be pretty funny, but it can also cause her anxiety until we explain what the idiom or whatever we said *really* means.
The most recent example: Yesterday, Cate was running a fever of 102. When I was feeling her forehead, I said aloud, “Cate, you are burning up!”
Bree immediately became anxious and fearfully exclaimed something about fire and Cate actually getting burnt. She was relieved when I told her that Cate just had a fever and felt hot to the touch; no fire involved.
