Burning Up

Bree often takes things we say literally, which can sometimes be pretty funny, but it can also cause her anxiety until we explain what the idiom or whatever we said *really* means.

The most recent example: Yesterday, Cate was running a fever of 102. When I was feeling her forehead, I said aloud, “Cate, you are burning up!”

Bree immediately became anxious and fearfully exclaimed something about fire and Cate actually getting burnt. She was relieved when I told her that Cate just had a fever and felt hot to the touch; no fire involved.
