It was a mild December day, so the girls’ instructor at horseback riding, Liz, put together a fun scavenger hunt for them outside. They had to follow instructions to the next clues and at the end, they each got a light-up necklace for Christmas.
O Christmas Tree
We had to wait to put up Christmas decorations until after the hardwood floors were in this year. We have yet to bring up any furniture from the basement, so we decided to put the tree in the front window for the first time. I think I like it there!
Hotel
When the contractors were installing our hardwood flooring, the girls and I spent a lot of time in the basement. But the day the stain was put down on the floor produced a strong odor that drifted even downstairs. After awhile, I began to get a headache so I decided we should get a hotel […]
New Hardwood Floor
The carpet in our house was quickly deteriorating and was looking not only dingy but also was very uneven, with lots of rolls which made it difficult to vacuum. (I think the previous owners installed the cheapest carpet possible and didn’t stretch it properly.) So we’re excited to finally replace it with hardwood floors on […]
Cat Ponies
It makes me smile when I think about how the girls have created alternative creatures based off of My Little Pony. First, there were bee ponies, then bird ponies (“Fly, fly, fly, fly, I am a bird pony!”) And most recently “Cat ponies” have made an appearance. 🙂 They totally look like Fluttershy and Rainbow […]
Museum Field Trip
Our homeschool co-op had a field trip to our local science museum. It included an IMAX movie, Turtle Odyssey, which was in 3D. We also went to the “Science Behind Pixar” exhibit, which was really cool! Not only was there fun photo ops with favorite characters, but there was information on all different parts of […]
Makerspace
Bree attended a beginner coding class at a nearby makerspace and was happy to learn that the makerspace was having Open Hours directly after. She saw a little heart-shaped wooden box and wanted to make one herself, so with some help, we were able to print the pieces with a laser printer. She then put […]
High School Choir
Adrianna is in her homeschool co-op’s high school choir this year. This was their first performance of the year and it was great! I missed recording the first song (mainly because I couldn’t spot Adrianna from my seat) so I quickly moved to the very back where I could stand up and see her (and […]
Moria
Adrianna accompanied us to horseback riding this week, because she had an appointment nearby directly after. She was, at first, intent on staying in the car…until she saw the barn cat, Moria (named after the Mines of Moria from Lord of the Rings), walk by. She ended up spending the entirety of the little girls’ […]
Glass-Blowing
Adrianna had recently mentioned to me that she would be interested in watching a glass-blowing demonstration. So when I saw a post in a homeschooling group where homeschooled teens could have the opportunity to attend and *do* some glass-blowing themselves, I immediately signed her up! And she got to keep the ornament she made, too! […]
