We went up to Camp Grace in Wyoming for the Labor Day Weekend. My dad, Karen, Zach, Cindy, Kendall, Layla, and Aidan went up as well and we all shared two cabins. Overall, we had a pretty good time. We stayed up late playing card games and ping-pong on Saturday and on Sunday we had more ping-pong and also some Volleyball (or Mollyball, as Adrianna calls it). We also took a short walk down to the frog pond. I don’t think we saw any frogs, but we did see five wild turkeys on the way. (No, the turkeys are not pictured in the photo below…) 🙂
After it was dark on Sunday, a large campfire was built. Of course camp songs and testimonies were also to be had. The songs were by request. Adrianna, while sitting on my lap, quickly picked up on this, and told me during one song that she wanted to sing “Jesus wuv me.” I told her that once the song was over she could say her request out loud, and so once the song was over, she did. She wasn’t shy about it at all. So we all sang Jesus Loves Me.
Since her request went over so well, she went for it again, requesting “Jesus wuv chilwen” so then we all sang Jesus Loves the Little Children. I was so proud of my girl that I had tears of joy running down my face as we sang.
After we were done with Jesus Loves the Little Children, Adrianna immediately piped up with, “ABC’s!” After much laughter, I told her that we should probably let someone else have a turn to request a song. With the way Adrianna loves to sing, she could have gone on with song requests all night.
We left after the campfire, so it was pretty late; almost eleven at night. The drive out of the mountains was fun though – we saw lots of critters! A huge buck with a nice rack just outside of the camp’s perimeter, and later, several other deer, many rabbits and mice, a skunk, a large snake, and a fox.
One thing I love about Wyoming is how beautiful the night sky is. The stars and the Milky Way are so bright and clear. As we left the chapel after an evening service this weekend, Adrianna spotted the bright stars in the sky, and she pointed and exclaimed, “Like a diamond in the sky!”
I’m melting too! So many words, sentences, songs, loving expressions. And what a beautiful voice! Glad you had such a nice weekend.
