I turned the big 3-0 on Friday. Wow. I was dreading turning 30, but now I am finding it isn’t so bad. I am not crazy about the extra laugh lines around my eyes or the extra weight around my middle, but I think being 30 will turn out okay overall. What I want to know is, how come men get better looking with age as they mature though? At least that is the case with Greg; I think he gets handsomer and handsomer each year that passes. Not fair.
It was a nice birthday. My coworkers decorated my cubicle at work and we all shared a yummy chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. Shawn and Tina treated me to lunch. Then in the evening, Greg, Adrianna, and I went to PF Chang’s for dinner. As an off-note, guess who I ran into there? Two of my highschool classmates from Wyoming: Nathan Lizakowski and Jeremy Kumpf. I knew they were living in the Denver area too, but never would have expected to actually run into them somewhere, so that was a nice surprise.
After dinner, we came back home and relaxed for awhile and then put Adrianna to bed. My parents were in town and had offered to watch her for the evening, so Greg and I headed back out to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It was a great movie. But just like the last time we went to the theatre for a Harry Potter movie, I was amazed to see parents with a young child there; a child much too young to see such a scary movie. We heard the poor little girl crying at one scary point in the movie, and it just made me mad (and very sad). I think that PG-13 movies are rated such for a reason, and even WITH “parental guidance” shouldn’t there be a cutoff point where children are just absolutely not allowed?
When Zach and I went to Harry Potter we saw the same thing! Made me so mad! The poor little kid was crying. Same thing when we went to Pirates of the Carribean 3. The first one was a little laid back, but this one was WAY to scary for a 3-year-old. I hate it when parents don’t act like parents!
