Word Progress

Not only is Adrianna making great strides in the number of words she is learning on a daily basis, but previously learned words are becoming more clear as well. Greg and I were discussing how proud we are of her progress, but also how sad we are to say goodbye to some of her cute pronunciations that we have enjoyed.

  • Peepace (Toothpaste) has been around for almost 6 months, but as of this week it has become poopace. Pee to Poo. Progress in the vowel sound, but still hilariously funny.
  • Rawra (Adrianna) is still the most commonly used way she uses to refer to herself, but a few times this week she has slipped in an “A-dee-raw-ra.” Getting closer.
  • At one point, elephants were referred to as “tsa-tsa.” Somewhere in the last couple months they have evolved to eh-phants.

We are also noticing a consistent pattern of letter substitution in her words. For instance, she has not figured out how to make the “v” or the “k” sound when it falls in the middle of a word. This makes for some cute sentences, such as when she asks me to “Moop Mommy” when she wants me to move over. Or when she says, “Be righ’ bap” when she is going to be right back. Another one is when she asks to go for a “Wop” (walk) or tells me that “Teddy Beah’s wopping.”

Have I told you how much I love this age? Probably at least one hundred and thirty-six times (and counting).

  1. Happy 30th! What a big deal. Im turning 30 in march and Im a little nervous about it. I dont know if Im ready to be 30. dont 30 year olds know something that 20 year olds dont. Arent they supposed to have it all together? Own a house and have real furniture. although I am looking forward to both of those, Im still far from it and would like 30 to wait until I had all of those things before she decided to visit.

Love the Adriana stories. so so cute.
