This is not how I expected to spend my first day back home.
Cate has learned that a broken humerus is not very humorous. (Yes, you can groan over that terrible pun!) And that jumping off the top bunk of her bunk bed is probably not a good idea.
She’s in a splint for now. We will know more tomorrow afternoon after her doctor consults with Children’s Hospital on what the next step will be. (Perhaps a cast once the swelling goes down.) The reason her sling isn’t in a “normal” position is this is all they could get her to bend her arm to splint it (and even that much was painful for her!)
Update 10/31/2018: we are at a specialist’s office, and it looks like she will require surgery to get two pins inserted and will require an overnight stay. They are attending to the details now.
She has a “Dorsally displaced and angulated supracondylar distal humerus fracture†and the “alignment is unacceptable.â€
