A friend of the Reimer family let us stay in their second home in Durango, where we had a beautiful and fun family vacation.
We had a fun train trip from Durango to Silverton with the Reimers. The girls loved it! The little girls even got a short nap.
We also visited Mesa Verde, which was really awesome to see.
Unfortunately, before we were able to hike around Mesa Verde, there was an incident with ground bees. After a picnic lunch, a lizard was spotted. The lizard ran underneath a yucca plant. Grampy kicked at the yucca plant in the hopes of scaring the lizard back out, but instead disturbed some very angry ground bees that stung both Kristi and Adrianna, multiple times. Poor Adrianna was running away while they were chasing her. Kristi was wearing sandals and was stung on the foot, which made it difficult for her to hike around once we got to Mesa Verde.
The first night was a bit rough. Cate, being a baby, woke up in the middle of the night and began to cry. Which upset Bree, who began to scream for her to be quiet. Which made Cate cry more, which made Bree more upset. I think the little girls kept the whole house up. Thankfully, Dave and Marilyn switched rooms with us since their room had a big closet with a door. So we were able to put Cate in the closet the second night and by closing the door, she slept much better, which meant Bree slept better, which meant the rest of the house also was able to have a much quieter night.
Another hardship is Bree’s fear of using the potty and also, her diaper. On the trip, she would hold her pee for so many hours until it was painful and she would cry because it hurt to hold it in but she was still too scared(?) to pee in her diaper, too. Until eventually, it would all come out anyway and then there would be *so* much that it would get all over everything. Poor Bree. Those experiences don’t feel good either, which isn’t helping her overcome her fear with using the potty or her diaper.
