Adrianna is now in 4th grade. Though we did a little school through the summer, we started our 4th grade curriculum in August. We are using the following curriculum:
- Math – Abeka
- English – Abeka
- Science – Sonlight
- History/Geography – Sonlight
- Reading/Literature – Sonlight
- Social Studies – Macmillan/McGraw-Hill
- Spelling – Spelling Workout and All About Spelling
She is also still taking piano lessons once a week.
She started her homeschool options group in September, much to her delight. I am so very excited about her class schedule there this year.
- Colorado History
- IEW – Writing
- Art
- Computer Game Design
- Inventions
- Young Entrepreneurs

We will be switching Bree to a therapeutic riding stable nearer to home this month and they also offer regular riding lessons. Adrianna is very excited about taking lessons, too. We will hopefully be starting at the end of the month.
Last night, she started a new class at a local church called “Vessels” as well. It consists of a Bible lesson and crafts, all created for girls in 3rd-6th grade. Adrianna was very exciting to see a couple girls from our Sunday school there (even though this isn’t at our church) and her BFF, Alexis, was there too. I am glad we heard about this class; I was feeling sad that we were going to miss CBS this year due to a scheduling conflict but I think this will be the perfect thing for Adrianna.
Adrianna continues to be as sweet, thoughtful, and giving as ever. She is always thinking of little things she can make for her sisters. She has been invaluable in helping Bree learn how to do interactive play (rather than just playing side-by-side.) I had mentioned to Adrianna that she should have her Pollies “talk” to Bree’s ponies to engage Bree in interactive play and Adrianna took that request to heart. It has been amazing. Bree now asks Adrianna to “play Pollies and Ponies” every single day. Adrianna also dotes on Cate and is such a help to me with both of her little sisters.
Adrianna is our social girl. She is always coming up with creative ideas and encouraging others to go along with them. She loves to talk about her “detective club” that she has with her friends.
We recently finished reading the Harry Potter series together. She LOVED it. So much that Harry Potter has surpassed Star Wars as her favorite thing. She is considering being Luna Lovegood or Hermione Granger for Halloween. She’s already made herself a wand (based on a craft found in a library book.) She is also currently reading the How to Train Your Dragon series, which she tells me are quite different from the movies. She often spends an hour or more reading each night at bedtime. Greg and I are so glad that she enjoys reading!
In addition to reading, Adrianna still enjoys playing video games. Right now, her favorites are probably Minecraft and The Sims. We are currently (and slowly) working through Minecraft Mod, where you can actually update code in the Minecraft game to modify it. She’s made herself a light saber (using GIMP) so far.
She is not sure what she wants to be when she grows up. Maybe a scientist, archeologist, dress designer, or writer.
