Strong-willed

Battle of the wills today with my 3yo. (But no negative attitudes on her part or anything.) When she woke up with a dry diaper, I put her on the toilet hoping that this would be a good way to start our potty-training journey since nothing else is working. She’s been sitting there for 30 minutes or more, happily singing.

I wonder how long she will hold it? How long should I wait? Silly girl.

I’ve been taking a very laid-back approach with her since I learned with my oldest that when she’s ready, it’ll be easier and quicker. But I am getting tired of changing wet bedding and clothing every morning (because she holds it all night and then lets it all go at once) and I am also getting weary of having two in diapers.

Success! And it only took 1.5-2 hours. Ha! This girl has strong willpower but I’m glad we stuck with it. (I did take her off the potty a few times for brief breaks but made her stay in the bathroom.)

We’ve tried the fancy underwear, too. She LOVES her My Little Pony panties and it got her to not be afraid to sit on the potty awhile ago. So it definitely was a step in the right direction even if she didn’t actually USE the potty at that time. And we made a huge deal of it today and she got some chocolate afterward too. Baby steps, baby steps.
