Today’s excitement has been the discovery of our three baby robins learning how to fly. The unfortunate part is all three have ended up in our window wells and cannot fly high enough yet to get out. Each are in a different window well. Thankfully, the Momma bird is still bringing food to at least 2 of the 3 down in the window wells. I’m not sure if she knows where the 3rd one is.
Our 5 baby swallows will probably be leaving the nest soon. I am surprised they can all fit into the little nest! They are getting so cute and fuzzy.

And yes, I am turning into a bird nerd as I get older. My kids are enjoying it. Free science lessons right in our yard.
The window wells are quite deep, so after they’d been stuck down there for several hours with no progress, we decided to put a step ladder down one of the window wells. The little robin hopped onto the bottom step and I was able to lift the ladder back out while he rode on the step. He then flew away after he was clear of the top of the well. Success! We repeated this with the second robin with equal success. The third robin was the strongest (I think momma robin fed him the most today) and Adrianna went into the basement and tapped on the window and he was able to fly out on his own. I just wish I would’ve taken pictures of them.
