Our Fourth of July

We were invited to a BBQ for the fourth by our friends, Quint and Julie. It was held at the house of their friends, Jeremy and Amy, in Longmont, who I had met one other time. Greg regularly has a guys’ band night with Quint and Jeremy.

Quint and Julie have two kids, W (9) and L (4). Jeremy and Amy also have two children, R (6) and Z (3). It is so nice to get to know some other couples that we enjoy hanging out with who have children around Adrianna’s age. The children can go off and play while the adults converse. Awesome. Adrianna adores W and follows him around. All the little girls do really. It is quite cute.

Greg made a seven-layer dip and Adrianna and I baked chocolate chip cookies. For the main dishes, the guys went all out. I think they really enjoy doing this type of thing. My favorites were the delicious steak on skewers and a pork loin stuffed with pepperoni, provolone, and pesto and wrapped in bacon. Yum.

After the delicious food, Jeremy lit some ground fireworks in the street. Then, as it started to get dark, we walked to the lake where the Longmont fireworks show was being held. We had an awesome vantage point and Greg got some really good shots. Adrianna wasn’t scared of the loud fireworks booms this time, although she did plug her ears for some of the show.

After we walked back from the fireworks, we had dessert, along with roasted marshmallows and smores around the fire pit. That was a big hit with the kids. I think it was about 1 a.m. by the time we got home.

  1. Wow, what an awesome evening–from the fellowship and food to the fireworks and fun! Glad you could enjoy it all. Kristi came and we had fireworks on the THIRD in Rogers and went to the Passion Play in Eureka Springs on the FOURTH. It was a beautiful weekend, including the weather. Her friends Eric and Juli and kids came out on the FIFTH for supper. Great to see them.

  2. Those are great fireworks photos! I’m glad you had fun. It is always nice to have people to hang out with that are in the same life stage as you are!
