Landscaping

We were planning on getting our house ready to sell this summer* so we started working on our home improvement to-do list. Number one on our list was our front yard’s landscaping. It had really gotten overrun with weeds in the last two years (basically since I became pregnant with Bree and was too tired and then too busy to keep up with the weeding). We got a bid from a landscaper and it seemed high to Greg so we asked our friend Shad what he thought, since he had some landscaping experience. He confirmed that it was a bit high. So we asked our realtor, Brittany, and she got us in touch with a landscaper she knew. I am glad we got a second opinion since the new quote was about $600 cheaper.

We basically had them just re-do the existing landscaping structure that was already in place in both the front yard and on the side of the house. Taking out the weeds, new ground cover, new mulch. They also trimmed back the trees and bushes, took out some rocks and put mulch in those places for consistency and took out the awful, plastic fake bricks and replaced with rocks. I am very pleased with the result.

I couldn’t find any recent “before” pictures, so here is one from 2009. It was even more overgrown than this before we had the landscapers come dig us out.

*Note: We have since decided that we will not be moving for awhile now that Greg got his new job. But I guess this just gives us more time to work on our house for the time when we can move.
