We attended a Literary Tea on Tuesday with some other families from our Pneuma homeschool group. The theme was Charlotte’s Web.
Sarah (the hostess) told them the story of Arachne (a Greek myth) and how it relates to arachnids. Adrianna was excited that she recognized the story from our study of Greece and Greek myths last year. The kids also put on a short skit based on some of the scenes from the book. Adrianna played Fern during the scene where the life of Wilbur was saved.
Another activity was a relay race to find words (torn out from a newspaper beforehand) where they had to crawl and pretend they were Templeton gathering the words.
The kids had an edible craft to do (making spiders out of crackers, peanut butter, chocolate chips and pretzel sticks), which was a big hit.
And of course, there was plenty of free-play time as well. Adrianna had a lot of fun playing with all the other girls her age there. Bree, as usual, was content to wander around on her own and read some children’s books she found.
Love it! don’t know if I could eat those spiders though! 🙂
