Introducing Anne

Sometime last year, I ran across the Reece’s Rainbow site. As the months went by, I found myself visiting the site more and more frequently. What started out as a curiosity for me became a growing compassion as I couldn’t get the children’s sweet faces out of my mind. I have spent many a late night scrolling through the profile pages with tears in my eyes. And now compassion has grown into conviction as there are several children in particular that I feel God has shown me to pray for. I pray that they are shown love by their orphanage workers and that their forever families will find them, and quickly! The fate of special-needs children in Eastern Europe orphanages is often not good. Many of the special-needs children are transferred to adult asylums for the mentally ill when they reach around 5 years of age. It breaks my heart.

I know not everyone is called to adopt or in a position to adopt right now, but I do think we can all do something to help. We can speak up for these precious little ones who have no voice. We can help others who are on the road to adopt a child. And we can pray, pray, pray!

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves…defend the rights of the needy.” (Proverbs 31:8,9)

“A father of the fatherless, and a defender of the widows, is God in his holy habitation. God sets the lonely in families. (Psalms 68:5-6)

My friend, Myndi, has had a similar journey to being made aware of the orphan situation and has started advocating for a little girl named Annabelle. Myndi has held a garage sale in which all the proceeds went toward Annabelle’s adoption grant. She also has made some adorable girls’ clothing which she is holding a giveaway for on her blog. You can read about Myndi’s conviction for Annabell and check out her current giveaway.

Inspired by Myndi, I have decided to take the next step and become an advocate. I noticed one of the little girls I have been praying for did not have a “warrior” so I requested to become little Anne’s warrior.

Introducing Anne
(from her profile on Reece’s Rainbow)

DOB: February 2008

Anne is a happy, calm and inquisitive girl. She is friendly and smart. She is sociable with people that she knows well, but takes some time to warm up to new people. Anne has good cognitive abilities. She plays well with her peers and the older children. She learns quickly and loves to help in the group.

I’d like to raise awareness regarding the overwhelming need for adoption and special-needs adoption, to help Anne’s forever family find her and to also help fund her adoption grant so that money will not be an issue holding someone back from adopting this sweet little girl. Would you consider donating a little to Anne’s adoption grant on Reece’s Rainbow? It is tax-deductible and would be a very feasible way to help one of “the least of these.” If you are not in a place to donate, I encourage you to visit the Reece’s Rainbow site and learn a little bit more about what they do and how they are helping the word get out about these precious children.

Thanks for reading. I appreciate it. I will probably be posting about some of the other kids on Reece’s Rainbow at some point. I know you will fall in love with them too.
