Asking God for Wings and Slinkies

Adrianna has such an inquisitive nature. I just love all her questions, even the tough ones that I don’t know how to answer. She’s had a few more questions about God and Jesus over the past week. I can’t remember all of them, but here are a few little stories.

One night before bedtime, she was chattering on and on about how she wants to be a supergirl (super hero). She told me that she was going to ask God for wings so that she could fly.

A couple of days ago, we were in the car when she announced that her toy slinky was broken. I tried to fix it, but the plastic was pretty bent and will probably never be the same. She then asked me if God could fix it for her.

Later in our trip, she asked me, “Will Jesus live in my heart forever?” I answered that yes, when we believe in Him, He will stay there forever. She replied with a sad little “awwww.” I don’t think she was sad about Him being with us forever. Instead, I am betting that our little girl, who takes everything literally, was just feeling sorry for Jesus having to be “stuck” there forever and ever.

A couple months ago, she learned her first memory verse. “I am with you always.” Matthew 28:20. I just love listening to her recite it, complete with the reference. The trusting heart of a child is a beautiful thing to behold.

  1. I loved hearing her recite that verse too. Sounds like these are all very teachable moments. Praying for godly wisdom for you Amber.

  2. What a sweetheart. Reminds me of when I asked God to turn me into a UniPeg (Unicorn Pegasus). Luckily God knows whats better for us than we do hehe.

  3. I am really glad that she is learning so much and has such a beautiful heart! I will have to hear her recite that verse next time we visit!

  4. Yes, Karen, I’m glad too that God didn’t turn you into a UniPeg! That’s funny.
