Trial Day

Last Tuesday, May 19th, Adrianna had her “trial” half-day at the academy where she will be attending preschool. (The academy refers to it as Junior Kindergarten.) This trial day is a way for the academy to make sure she is “ready” for school and also a small step to ease Adrianna and us into it as well. We know that Adrianna is fully ready to go to school, both socially, emotionally, and academically. Between her going to MOPS, Sunday School, and childcare a few days a week, saying goodbye to Mom and Dad isn’t (usually) a big deal and she enjoys playing with other children and making friends.

Sure enough, she didn’t even notice us leave once she was in the classroom. Upon picking her up after lunch, we were told by the principal that Adrianna was shy at first but that she opened up and became more talkative after someone complimented her light-up shoes. LOL. Sounds just like our girl. She loves shoes, including her “super-shoes” as this particular pair is referred to.

I was also pleased to learn that she was very adamant about eating her sandwich (peanut butter and honey) BEFORE she ate her snack, just like I had instructed her to do. She was very flushed when we picked her up; she must have been playing hard on the playground. She seemed to have a good time and is looking forward to preschool very much.

Unfortunately, I forgot the camera. I hope I remember it on her actual first day next week!
