Often when we are trying to explain something of a serious nature or give instructions to Adrianna, we will end the conversation with, “Got it?” instead of “Okay?”. This was Greg’s idea, as “Got it?” implies more of a “Do you understand?” to the statements whereas “Okay?” would imply more of a “Do you agree? Is that okay with you?” Sometimes, as a parent, you can’t ask your child’s permission. Things like crossing the street only if you are holding the hand of an adult is something that is not negotiable.
Tonight, I went in to give her a hug and a kiss as she laid down to go to sleep.
“Teddy Bear isn’t going to sleep,” Adrianna tattled. So I told Teddy Bear that it was time to bed and that he needed to obey Adrianna and go to sleep. As I turned to walk out the door, a little voice called after me, “Tell him ‘Got it’ too Mommy.”
