Some Days
Some days, homeschooling goes great! Learning happens, everything (or most everything) gets done *or* perhaps you go on a learning rabbit-trail and forget the to-do list, which is okay, too. And then there are other days, like today, when the 7yo acts like writing THREE sentences is the END.OF.THE.WORLD and not even a snack afterward […]
Homeschool Curriculum
I’ve finally received all of the curriculum that we are planning on using next year. I’m excited to get started! Here’s what we are considering for this year: 2ND GRADE: Math: Saxon Reading: All About Reading Spelling: All About Spelling Language Arts: Write Away (new to us this year – we’ll see how it goes!) […]
Rocky Mountain National Park
Greg had one more day off of work, so we decided to spend the afternoon in Rocky Mountain National Park. We saw lots of elk and beautiful scenery. I love Colorado, and the ability to just zip up to the mountains for an afternoon. And we had a free National Parks pass since Bree was […]
May 2020
The month of May found us still practicing “social distancing” at home, leaving only for grocery pickups or an occasional appointment that couldn’t be done remotely. Remote classes and/or watching documentaries The girls doing some baking. Cupcakes and later, coffeecake. We regularly take family walks. Sometimes the girls ride their bikes. We are thankful for […]
April 19-30
Greg decided (like many people in our country) that the extra time at home would be a good time to make some homemade bread. I originally played an Animal Crossing game several Nintendo versions ago and enjoyed it, so it is fun to see the girls getting into the new rendition of the game, Animal […]
Watercolor Cats
An art teacher at the girls’ Homeschool Options school, Ms. Hickman, has been creating weekly watercolor tutorials for her students. All three girls did the latest tutorial together, even though only Adrianna and Bree have her for actual classes this year. I think their cats turned out great, each according to their own styles and […]
Trading Places
Just in case anyone was curious as to how our Friday is going…
Week of March 22-28
Bree and Cate watch Mo Willems Doodles while Adrianna works on her biology. Another family walk in our neighborhood. Art class via an online video. Adrianna’s been busy with other art projects, too. And homemade cupcakes! And some more art from Bree, too. The girls love their Marble Run.
Mo Willems Doodles
Bree and Cate have been watching some of the Mo Willems Doodles videos, where the author Mo Willems talks about his creativity process and then shares how to do some of the doodles. Their drawings of Pigeon turned out great!
