Earlier this week, we got to visit the Amazon Go Store (it felt weird grabbing items and then just walking out!) and Greg also took us into the Amazon Spheres (https://www.seattlespheres.com/) in downtown Seattle. Such a cool place!

Alki Beach
Alki Beach at low tide. The girls were a little grossed out by all the slimy seaweed exposed during the low tide, but we saw lots of neat ocean life, including a red lion’s mane jellyfish, anemone, and lots of crabs of several types. There were a few naturalists from the aquarium that were on […]
Banana Stand
There’s always money in the banana stand. (Or free bananas courtesy of Amazon’s Community Banana Stand, anyway.) I think it’s funny that we were served by a “banista.”
Baptism
Adrianna’s baptism at our church (The Table). We are so thankful to all of our family who drove out to share this special moment with us!
Inventing Room
Today’s field trip to the Inventing Room was super-cool, both in the figurative and the literal sense. Cheetos frozen in liquid nitrogen, along with ice cream and “exploding whipped cream” made with liquid nitrogen. Definitely not your typical dessert shop.
Rock Band Camp
Adrianna attended “Rock Band Camp” last week. For only three hours a day, she and her bandmates learned two cover tunes and composed an original song together. Last night was their concert. Her band consisted of two guitar players, a drummer, a lead singer, and Adrianna on the keyboard. (And their instructor/mentor filled in on […]
Squirrel Nut Zippers
We scored some front row seats to see the Squirrel Nut Zippers in concert at the Arvada Center’s outdoor arena. This was the second time for Greg and I to see them live and Adrianna’s first. At first, I felt quite conspicuous taking videos from the front row, but eventually I got braver and I […]
American Astronomical Society
The American Astronomical Society was in town for a convention and they invited local homeschoolers to come for an educational morning. Knowing Adrianna’s love of astronomy, I jumped at the chance! Since the event was at the Denver Sheraton hotel in downtown Denver, we decided to take the bus. The Flatiron Flyer is so convenient […]
Five Iron Frenzy
Five Iron Frenzy was one of my favorite bands from the late 1990s. I have fond memories of traveling down to Denver with friends to see them live in concert. Later, when I lived in Omaha, I saw them perform at Sokol Auditorium. Incidentally, Greg was at that concert, too, even though we were not […]
Butterfly Pavilion
We visited the Butterfly Pavilion as a part of their Homeschool Day. Since Bree and Cate have been interested in insects lately, the timing was perfect. They enjoyed looking at all the insects and arachnids there. When we ventured into the butterfly habitat, we viewed the many cocoons and chrysalises. The girls were excited about […]
