Five Iron Frenzy

Five Iron Frenzy was one of my favorite bands from the late 1990s. I have fond memories of traveling down to Denver with friends to see them live in concert. Later, when I lived in Omaha, I saw them perform at Sokol Auditorium. Incidentally, Greg was at that concert, too, even though we were not yet dating. 🙂

So I was thrilled to be able to see them again, around 20 years later! And to bring Adrianna along as well. It was a free outdoor concert at the Levitt Pavilion in Denver.

The band is the same age as Greg and I, so they made a lot of jokes about aging. And for one song, some of the band members had their kids dancing up on stage.

Opening for Five Iron Frenzy was Sorry Sweetheart and Younger Than Neil.

At one point, Reese (the lead singer) jumped up in the air and then landed sprawled out on the stage like he used to back when he was probably 20. I was surprised. I think he paid for it later though. They weren’t able to do an encore because he was hurting, whether from that stunt or something else I am not sure! His voice was giving out, too. Sucks getting older sometimes! But still, I enjoyed every minute of the show. The videos I took aren’t very steady because I was having a hard time not dancing to some of my favorite songs. 🙂
