This past weekend, Greg and I attended the Weekend to Remember conference in Estes Park. My in-laws had paid our way to the seminar and hotel as a gift and even watched Adrianna for us so we could go. Due to a health condition I am going through right now, we weren’t able to do much activity-wise or tourist-wise while we were there, but we had had this little excursion planned for many months so we decided to continue through with it anyways. I am so glad we did.
This was our first weekend, as a couple, without Adrianna. I was pretty nervous about that, but Adrianna had a good time with Grammy and Grampy and didn’t seem to miss us too much.
As for Greg and I, we had a most wonderful time. I am very thankful that we were able to stay in the same hotel that the conference was at, because I slipped up there a lot when I needed a rest. The conference itself was good and I would recommend it for any married couple, but I especially enjoyed the talks that Greg and I were able to have (and there were many).
For the conference, part of our homework was that we each had to write a love letter to our spouse. This was a great exercise and I will treasure the letter Greg wrote me forever.
Greg and I thought perhaps we would run into someone we knew from Denver since it isn’t far from Estes Park and it seems like it is a small world, especially when it comes to Christian functions. But we didn’t see anyone from Colorado that we knew. At the beginning of the conference, the speaker was naming off the different states that were represented by the 700 people attending the conference. One of the states was Wyoming. Greg made the comment that there was a better chance that I would know the people from Wyoming than there was of us running into someone we knew from Denver. Turns out he was right! On Saturday night, we bumped into Jamie (Snell) Phillips, who is from my small hometown. We went to the same church and were also both home schooled. She and her husband, Brandon, have been married just over a year and live in the same city as my sisters do now. So cool. I enjoyed chatting with her, as we hadn’t seen each other in many years.
So anyways, thank you to my wonderful in-laws for this thoughtful gift. And thank you to my amazing husband; I enjoy spending time with him and talking to him as much now as I did when we were dating. Have we really been together for 9 years? Time sure flies when you are having fun.
I love your in-laws. Really. I’m glad you had such a great time!
