Too Many Irons

While cooking dinner tonight, I had too many things going on at once (too many irons in the fire, so to speak) and I got distracted and accidentally burned four fingers (2 on each hand) and both thumbs. Greg even had to cut up my meat at dinner because I could barely hold my utensils and had to eat left-handed, in between soaking my hands in a glass of cold water. Maybe we’ll go out for dinner tomorrow… 😝

I was distracted (between three different meal items cooking and homeschooling, too), and I picked up a dish that had just come out of the oven with my bare hands. And though I quickly realized my mistake, I couldn’t just drop it (it was glass) but had to keep moving to then set it back down. I think the delay in putting it down is what made the burns worse. I did half-toss it onto the surface of our stove at that point and thankfully it didn’t land hard enough to break the glass surface of our stove-top (or the dish itself.)

Updated Jan 25: I am much better today! I took some Ibuprofin and soaked my fingers and thumbs in cool water until I went to bed last night. Then, I put my hands into socks that were wet so that their coolness continued to help the burning sensation so I could sleep. This morning my fingers are tender but so much better. I think some small blisters may be in my future, but I am thankful for a quick healing.
