Young Entrepreneurs

One of the classes Adrianna is taking at her Homeschool Options school is Young Entrepreneurs. Each student has spent the semester learning about the basics of creating a business. Using a currency they came up with in class (Citybucks), they each had to purchase a business license, a patent for what they wanted to create and sell, and calculate their expenses to make the products (including paying parents for supplies and time spent helping produce the products via the class currency or in chores completed). Adrianna decided to make coasters out of ceramic tiles. They turned out great!

Their big “selling day” at school was last Thursday. Adrianna and her classmates were all very excited and proud of their individual creations. Adrianna even brought her own table from home so she wouldn’t have to “rent” one from the teacher for her booth. 🙂 I think the whole school came through with Citybucks to buy items.

Adrianna was thrilled that her coasters sold out quickly! She even raised the price on them near the end. My little entrepreneur! She was bouncing with happiness when she did the calculations and saw that she made a nice “profit” when all was said and done. This class was right up her alley; she has always wanted to have lemonade stands and is thinking of ways she can create and sell things.

She has another selling day at the end of April so we are gearing up to create her next product in addition to making some more coasters. 🙂 I think we have a special order to make for Aunt Karen sometime soon as well. 😉
