Broken Furnace

The girls and I are huddled up under blankets – time for a new furnace! It is working (thankfully), but is hasn’t worked well in years. It has so many things wrong with it now (at least five different issues, including a gas leak!) so we have the thermostat turned down lower than I’d like (especially considering the single digit temps outside) to help it not have to work so hard until we can get it replaced. Here’s to hoping the quote to replace isn’t TOO bad!

Just got the quote – ouch! But they can do the replacement tomorrow, so that is good news. Glad we have a good space heater for tonight. It is still working, luckily. We just turned it down because it was running constantly and even when running constantly it wasn’t keeping it as warm as I’d like and the furnace guy recommended turning the thermostat down due to all the issues. We will just be bundling up and using our space heater. It’s around 63 degrees in here, so we should be fine! (Our thermostat is set to 70, but the reality is that this old furnace can’t get it past 63 even though we have it set to 70.) 70 is what I WISH it was inside though. I get cold easily.

We’ve known it was coming for a few years. And have had several different companies recommend it over the years, so not unexpected. Just a big nuisance and painful for the savings account.

On a happy note, Adrianna and I are going to see the Nutcracker ballet tomorrow morning!

And since the two little girls will be at the neighbor’s for the day, we may wrap up our homeschool day at Panera Bread. Which works out well since the house will be cold while the furnace is being replaced.
