Last weekend, I took a “Sew Lovely” sewing class to try to get more comfortable with my sewing abilities. I am glad I went, as it gave me the confidence to repair a very special dress.
This dress was mine when I was around 8 years old.
I loved this dress. It was long and flowing and had those purple parts hanging down on the sides that fancy gowns in cartoons often had. To me, it looked like the dress that a princess would wear.
And now, at age 6, Adrianna loves the dress too.
Because it has been such a loved dress, after only a few times of Adrianna wearing it, the dress got a huge tear in it. Part of the white skirt and one of the purple flounces (is that what they are called?) tore off almost completely on one side in the front. It sat in my pile of mending for a couple of months because I had no idea how to fix it. The skirt’s fabric width is much greater than the purple bodice part due to its many folds.
After taking the sewing class, I felt confident to at least give it a try. I figured if it didn’t work out, I could use my seam ripper pretty easily. But lo and behold, I did it! I fixed the dress. It isn’t perfect, but this little girl is very happy with the results. 🙂
Great job! Look at you getting your SEW on. It was so fun having you in class.
It’s lovely! So proud of you! I wish I had more time to sew… Hey, I’ve been meaning to tell you, the kids and I had so much fun seeing you this last time! Thanks for chilling with us awhile. Can’t wait to see you again!
Makes me happy to see these pictures 🙂 Love that you were able to fix this special dress for Adrianna 🙂
I loved being a princess in that dress too…I am glad you are sewing! I can’t wait to quilt again now that I finally have a table to do it on!!!
Amber, good for you! And….you are so cute at the piano! And….you look SO much like Adrianna (except she has Greg’s eyes). Fun pictures and stories.
