Music Train

Music is a big part of our household. Greg can often be found playing one of his many guitars and likes to compose music on the computer. I enjoy playing my keyboard and singing. Adrianna also loves to sing and both of our girls enjoy dancing.

One thing that I have been wanting to do is take Adrianna to a live concert, but not all concerts are appropriate for young children or are easy for a child to sit through in their entirety. So when I heard about local Music Train Family Concert Series, I thought it would be perfect for our family. And extra bonus: the next band to play was a local bluegrass band, The Blue Canyon Boys, and they were playing at a nearby venue that we like. We invited Quint, Julie, Jeremy and Amy and their kids to come along too.

The concert turned out to be a lot of fun. There was a little dance floor in front of the band and it was filled with kids enjoying the music. Adrianna danced and danced and danced.

Bree even sat relatively still on our laps, especially as I’d rock or bounce her to the lively music. (Notice her bunny? This is one of her new best friends.)

After the concert, we headed over to Julie and Quint’s for some grilled hot dogs and hamburgers.

It was the perfect way to spend a Saturday.

  1. The last couple of years the Wailin’ Jennys have played a free concert in Manhattan (KS). There are always a bunch of little kids there dancing in front of the stage. Wish you guys could come sometime!
