With Greg’s new job as a Contractor, he doesn’t receive paid vacation. But he can work remotely since he normally telecommutes anyway. So when a couple of special events were coming up in Kansas earlier this month that we wanted to attend, Greg decided to see how telecommuting from somewhere other than home would go. Happily, it went pretty good which means we can take extended trips to visit family there more often. (We hope!)
Greg’s Grandpa recently completed his project of translating and recording the Through the Bible radio series into Low German. A celebration was thrown in his honor and we were glad to be able to go. Listening to the speakers and hearing about all the work put into the project as well as the many lives touched by Elmer’s ministries was inspiring. I have to say that I felt very happy to be a part of the Reimer family, even if I just married in. 🙂
While we were in Kansas, Adrianna and Bree were able to get in some quality time with their cousins. Bree and Lillian are only 6 months apart – I cannot wait to watch them grow up together. Charlie and Adrianna have a lot of fun together; mostly getting along with the occasional tiff, as if they were brother and sister. hehe. I think the tiffs may be in part due to Charlie’s learning to stand up for himself now and not always following along with Adrianna’s tendency to want to boss him around.
Surprise!
Unfortunately, a bad cold made its way through the household early in the week while we were there. Bree caught a nasty sounding cough but so far it hasn’t developed beyond that, thankfully. We bought her a battery-powered booger sucker and a saline spray which helps quite a bit in clearing her nose.
The girls and I went to a new spray park with Jess, her kids, and a friend of Jess’s and her kids. Adrianna was thrilled to play in the water, as always. All three of the older kids ran around and did a lot of joyful screaming.
We were also lucky to be in town during Lillian’s first birthday. It was fun being able to be a part of the everyday family events in Kansas for a week.
