Girls’ Day, Museum Playdate, Office Project Finished

Last Saturday, my sisters, my mom, and I met in Loveland for a girls’ day where we had lunch at Red Robin and then shopped until we were ready to drop. It is so much easier to shop and try on clothes without little girls tagging along. No hungry babies to be fed; no little girls hiding in the clothes racks or complaining that they are bored. I was able to buy several new shirts…for myself! It was amazing.

Even though our MOPS group is done with our regular meetings for the summer, we have regularly scheduled play dates every Tuesday until the Fall meetings start back up. This week, our play date was at the Littleton Museum. The museum consists of two living history farms (one from the 1860’s and one from the 1890’s) and a small lake. Admission is free. Since we were there on a Tuesday morning, we almost had the place to ourselves. Adrianna’s friend Ella was there, much to her excitement. They ran all over the place together, chasing the cotton floating through the air, viewing the farm animals and following “dinosaur tracks”, along with a couple of the other kids their age. Ella and Adrianna get along fabulously. They both love to wear dresses all the time and pretend they are princesses. Ella is “Princess Rainbow” and Adrianna is “Princess Sparkles”.

We had a picnic in a nearby park afterward, but unfortunately it was cut short due to a thunderstorm.

Greg finished his office space project this week. I love that he is so creative and can make such great furniture for our house. His next project, after we get some much-needed yard work finished, is to build me some shelves in our loft closet and in the girls’ bedroom. He is also in the middle of making me a growth chart on a painted/decorated board so we can start marking the girls’ height on it.

My sister recently moved to northern Colorado, about an hour away from us. We decided to take advantage of her much closer proximity and the fact that she is between jobs, so she came down Tuesday night and stayed with us through Thursday. We stayed up late watching Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and scrapbooking. We also went out to a movie, seeing the cheesy and predictable chick flick The Back-Up Plan.

Adrianna loved having Aunt Karen here. She didn’t want Karen to leave for the movie theater, begging her to stay home instead. Adrianna clung to Karen, fussing loudly, until Greg came downstairs and asked Adrianna if she wanted to play Mario Kart. Adrianna released Karen instantly with a shout of glee at the prospect of the video game play. 🙂
