Cousins

On Sunday, January 3rd, my 3 year old nephew’s appendix burst. After a long day at the ER in their smallish town (the doctors originally thought he was just having a bladder infection), he finally got a CAT scan. When the doctors there realized what had happened, they rushed him via ambulance to the Denver Children’s hospital. (They were going to do Life Flight but the weather there was too bad.)

I went to visit Aidan, Cindy, and Kendall in the hospital late that night. They wheeled him into surgery while I was there sometime around midnight. For more details about their ordeal, you can read Cindy’s blog.

On Tuesday, my parents picked Layla up from Nikki’s house (a friend of Cindy and Kendall’s) and brought her here to Denver to stay with us. This way, Layla could be closer to Cindy and Kendall and Nikki could also go back to work. We were glad to watch her and Adrianna was very glad to have her playmate back. The girls play really good together most of the time. We did have to play referee a bit, but most of their time together was spent in imaginative play and dress-up clothes. Layla stayed with us from Tuesday through Saturday. It was fun (and hectic) having three little girls to take care of.

And a video of the girls dancing to Lady Gaga.
