We decided to take the afternoon off from school to spend some time outdoors (in spite of the smoky haze from all the fires.) First, I had a bunch of plastic bags and styrofoam blocks that I needed to drop off at a local recycling place that takes hard-to-recycle items. And it was free to get in, since I was driving an electric car. (Note to self: always bring the Leaf on future trips! Although I would’ve been glad to pay the $3 entry fee to keep our items out of a landfill.)
Then, we headed to a nearby dog park. It had a dog run for dogs under 30 pounds and we had the place to ourselves. Moose enjoyed getting to explore off-leash for a bit.
After the dog park, we went through a nearby Dairy Queen drive-through for blizzards. Moose even got a dog treat from the person at the window! It was like she was expecting it though; she “sat pretty” for the man when she saw him grab the doggie treats. I wonder if she’d been through a lot of drive-throughs with her previous owners.
We brought our blizzards to Coal Creek, where we sat in the shade by the creek. It was nice to wade in the cool water. Even Moose waded in the water, willingly! She even climbed up on this log and then jumped right in to the water.
