Adrianna uses her teddy bear as her pillow of choice. He is her favorite night-time companion and is still the key player in many of her imaginative stories. He is now sometimes known as “Teddy Bear, the Rescuer” while Adrianna plays the part of a super-girl.
Yesterday, Adrianna was not feeling well and was not her normal chatty self. All day, the only things she had to eat was a little rice and some crackers. She also had a fever. The reason became apparent late in the evening when suddenly she threw up on the couch. Even though it shouldn’t have, given her behavior during the day, it surprised me and took me a couple seconds to react. When I finally snapped into action, I quickly instructed her to run into the bathroom and do any further puking in the toilet, which she promptly did. She got there just in time. Being sick sucks, but listening and watching to your sweet little girl be sick is even worse. At one point, she even let out a scream of sorts, which tore right through Greg and I. Poor baby girl. Thankfully, she was fine the rest of the night and her fever even went away shortly after.
I gave Adrianna a bath and threw her blanket and clothes in the wash while Greg started cleaning the couch and floor. Unfortunately, Teddy Bear got a little of the throw-up on his arm, so he had to be thrown into the washing machine (in a pillowcase) on the gentle cycle and couldn’t go to bed with her tonight. Adrianna told me to just bring him in when he was done with his bath, and strictly instructed me to lift her head and put him under her ear, because she liked using him for her pillow. Such a well-loved bear. I hope he is dry now so that she can wake up with him in the morning.
