11 Weeks

We had another doctor’s appointment last Tuesday. We haven’t had any more complications since the last appointment, but I was still very anxious for the reassurance that another ultrasound would bring. We are nearing the end of the first trimester, which is also comforting.

I had done some reading up on the rhogam shot and the reasons it is important during pregnancy if the mother is RH-. One of the reasons is that if the baby is RH+ (which could happen since Greg is) and its blood were to intermingle with mine somehow, my body could develop antibodies that could attack future pregnancies. I was very scared after reading this, since I don’t believe I was given the shot after I had my miscarriage, and there was a lot of bleeding. I brought up this concern with Dr. Austin and he checked my chart to see if Dr. Bachus had tested for any antibodies being present in my blood. Thankfully, he had included it in some of the blood tests I had (and I didn’t even know it), and I tested okay. I am so relieved!

Everything checked out great with the baby. We even got to hear the heartbeat, which brought tears to my eyes. It is all going so smoothly now that I don’t have to go back for another five weeks. I am so thankful.
