Lie to Me

Tonight during dinner, we were watching The Office and Adrianna asked if she could watch a kid show. I said yes, she could, as soon as she finished her corn dog. (From Sonic, yum!)

About a minute later, she rushed past me and headed for the kitchen, holding something behind her back. That seemed a bit fishy, so I asked her what she was doing. She told me that her corn dog was all gone and she was going to throw the stick away. Instantly, from her demeanor, I knew she was not telling the truth so I tried to stop her. She burst into a full-out run to beat me to the trash can and threw it in. I reached into the trash and pulled out her corn dog, and it definitely was NOT all gone. So I marched her straight to time out, where she stayed for a long time.

Later this evening, she was using our bathroom. After awhile, I went in to check on her because I was pretty sure she was done. She was wiping up a bunch of small hairs on the counter. This isn’t out of the ordinary; she likes to clean and Greg often leaves little hairs on the sink after shaving his face. But it didn’t look like stubble. That is when I noticed the scissors and a make-up brush with a chunk cut out of it. (I sure was relieved that it was only the brush with a chunk missing and not some of her own beautiful hair!!)

Right away, I confronted Adrianna and asked if she cut the brush. She instantly denied it. So I asked her who DID cut the brush and she told me Gracie Girl did it. This time, she was marched straight to bed. Many tears were shed, because this meant no bedtime story. After she hopped into bed, she told me that she was in bed when it happened and Teddy Bear had gotten up and done it. ARGH.

I am not crazy about this new lying phase. At least she isn’t very good at it.
