Teddy’s Kitty

Tonight as Adrianna were sharing a quiet moment together before her bedtime:

Adrianna: Mommy, Teddy’s sick.
Me: He’s sick?
Adrianna: Yeah. He’s sad.
Me: Why is Teddy sad?
Adrianna: His kitty is sick. He can’t move.
Me: Oh? What happened to his kitty?
Adrianna: He died. He is with Jesus now.
Me: Well, that’s a good place to be, although we’ll miss him. *sniffles* Is Teddy sad?
Adrianna: No. I’m sad. Mommy, do you have lots of sads?
Me: Yes, I do. I miss him too.

  1. Often our first encounter with death is losing a pet–a sad reality in life. And we are all feeling lots of sads that our Petey has died. He, with his unique name, has been such a centerpiece in your (and our) lives. 🙁

God created animals to bring us joy and companionship. He must love them too and He understands our sadness.
