More Fillings…or Not

Today Cate and I returned to the dentist so that she could get the remaining two fillings done in two of her molars. But unfortunately, her last experience at the dentist left her too nervous. The jaw pain from the thing that held her mouth open, the throwing up, and the taste of the numbing gel from last time were too fresh in her mind.

They were able to apply the numbing gel, but not long after that she did her pre-arranged sign for “might throw up” by waving her hands, so we paused and they rinsed her mouth really well. But then she absolutely refused to let them put the thing in her mouth that would safely hold her mouth open for the procedure. No amount of bribes or coaxing helped.

The dentist determined that we should come back in a couple of months and they will do the procedure while Cate is under sedation. This makes me even more nervous than her having the laughing gas, but I suppose it’ll have to do.
