Homeschool field trip to Miller Farms

Starting our First Grade Year
Things have been really busy around our house now that school has started back up. First grade is off to a good start! We have a new desk from Ikea. Adrianna and I share the desk, which has been working out great. Although I do look forward to the day when she will be able […]
Berry Patch Farms
Had a nice field trip to Berry Patch Farms on this cool September morning. Other than Bree being very high-maintenance, it was a lot of fun. Adrianna’s friend, Aubriana, was there. Those girls are like two peas in a pod. They love each other and are so cute! Bree did enjoy the wagon ride though!
Busy Day
First day of Adrianna’s homeschool co-op. Oil Change, transmission fluid change, battery change. Haircut for Bree. Bills paid and mailed. Check deposited at bank. I got almost everything done on my list except for a nap. Speaking of the oil change, Bree was asleep when I arrived so she and I stayed in the car […]
Prepping for 1st Grade
Typing out my “Letter of Intent to Homeschool” to our school district for next year (Colorado requirement). Hooray! I didn’t have to do a letter of intent last year since Colorado law doesn’t require Kindergarten or school for kids under the age of 6. I have ordered all our curriculum except for science, which has […]
Homeschool Conference
In mid-June, I went to a large homeschool conference in Denver at the Merchandise Mart. Though parts of it were a little too conservative for my taste, overall it was a time of encouragement and so refreshing. I had planned to meet up with two other girls from my homeschool support group; one I had […]
Homeschooling and Personal History
One (of the many) things I love about homeschooling is the opportunity to tie history or world events to our family and personal histories. Or being able to tie them to experiences that I know Adrianna has had. Not only does it make school more real and fun, but it also helps broaden her world […]
Victorian Dress and Mario-Kart
The Usborne Children’s Encylopedia we have for our history (and science) lessons is great and often includes pictures of what people wore during different historical periods. Adrianna loves the big fancy dresses that the women used to wear and so when I found this coloring sheet online to go along a lesson on Victorian times, […]
New Hairstyle
Another great hairstyle created by my 5yo daughter. 🙂 Our schoolroom is in the background. I love my custom-built shelving Greg put in for us.
Motivation
Just finished a productive day of homeschooling. I love it when things go smoothly. The promise of video games later never hurts a certain little girl’s motivation either.
