Today there was much rejoicing in the Reimer household as Adrianna officially used the potty on her own. Yes, there was one previous time where I heard one slight ripple in the water and it did get richly rewarded, but this time it was the real deal. And both!!
Adrianna told Janette that she needed to go poop so Janette took that moment to ask her if she wanted to use the potty. Adrianna, like usual, said no and was set against it, but once Janette mentioned the promise of M&M’s, she changed her mind. After placing Adrianna on the potty, Janette called me so I could run over and share the excitement. (I was working from home since I am on day three of having laryngitis and day four of just feeling downright miserably sick.)
Unfortunately this blessed event was not repeated for the next messy diaper this evening, but we are excited nonetheless.
And people said bribery is not a good thing! Sure works GREAT with kids!!! Yay for Adrianna, she will have to teach Layla and Aidan now, since they are just now sitting on it with their pants down…nothing else haha.
She may find she likes not having a messy diaper. 🙂 At least we can hope it works that way.
Good for you, Adrianna! Keep us posted.
Yeah, the biggest motivator has been candy or “birthday cake” (aka cupcakes). She has gone pee (slight amounts) three times since yesterday now. We are pretty excited. It isn’t consistent (as in EVERY time) but definitely a huge step forward.
Yay. That’s great news! One thing that really helped ethan was when he saw older kids (as in 3 year olds) go pee in the pot. He wanted to go like them. We also let him pee on car tires and he really liked that, but I dont think that would work so well in america, and not sure how well Adrianna can pee standing up 🙂
