Apparently the round, glass, bulb ornaments have an expiration date of sorts. We had a bunch from our first Christmas together 13 years ago and within 24 hours of putting up our tree this year, at least 10 had gotten broken when they were barely bumped or fell onto the carpet.
After cleaning the last one up, I went on a rampage and threw the oldest ones all away. It is now 24 hours later and there hasn’t been a single one broken since (of the remaining newer ones that didn’t get thrown away). And bonus: we get to go shopping for brand-new ornaments.
(Our tree is up early because our 8yo was very anxious to get it setup already. And since we exchange gifts early with my side of the family and we host everyone here (over Thanksgiving), we like to set it up a little early. And I LOVE Christmas music and had already started playing it once Halloween was over, so it made sense to go all out.)
